Day 6

Subject: It's all about Brand [lastname], [firstname]!

Hi [firstname],

One of the best things you can do to enhance your reputation as an inspirational leader is to develop your personal brand.

Your personal brand can be defined as “what people say about you when you're not there”. It's made up from a number of key elements ranging from how you present yourself, to what you say and don’t say, what you do and don't do and who you associate with.

Obviously you want this to be positive!

With that said, it's essential that you consciously and proactively manage your personal brand and reputation. You can do this by asking for feedback to ensure that your strengths are not being perceived negatively, and by clearly communicating what you intend to accomplish when you carry out (or ask others to carry out) a particular action.

Leverage your network to spread your influence wide. You can do this easily by telling people what you're up to, and by asking for endorsements and testimonials on sites like Linked-In. Keep your blog up to date with useful information to let others see that you know what you're talking about. You can also write articles and submit them to websites and journals read by decision makers in your industry. This has the added advantage of marking you out as an expert and authority in your field.

Regardless of how you do it, make sure others know who you are and what you can do. Emphasize positive results and downplay any setbacks (make sure you learn lessons from them, though).

Above all else, be like General Eisenhower on D-Day. Stay positive and expect great results.

Warmly,

[Your Name]
